costs
Following are the usual fees for initial and follow-up treatments. If these charges present a
hardship to you, please inquire about the reduced fees we offer. We ask that you pay for your care at the time of each visit.
You may
complete a Request for Financial Assistance to utilize funds available
through WaysMeet Healing Arts Center, Inc. (WHAC). The mission of WHAC
is to make services such as acupuncture available to all, regardless of
income. Please ask about availability of funding and eligibility at the time of your visit.
Initial visit
(learn about both evaluation types to determine which is best for you) |
- Initial acupuncture evaluation (1 ½ hour visit)
|
$100 |
- Integrative evaluation (2 appointments, each 1 ½ hours)
Payment for these two visits is due at the time
of the second appointment. The cost of a holistic health assessment not
followed by an acupuncture evaluation is $90.
|
$200 |
| Follow-up acupuncture treatments |
|
$85 |
- Community acupuncture session
|
$20 ($15-30)* |
*The usual expected payment
for a community acupuncture treatment is $20, with $15 (or less) fine
for those who cannot afford $20 and for anyone who schedules more than
one treatment within a week. For those who can afford to pay more, $30
is the suggested payment for a community clinic visit.
It is up to you to decide what you pay on each visit, with no need to
document or explain your decision. Your payment may vary from visit to
visit, depending on your circumstances. Those who pay more than $20 are
helping to “share the care” for those who cannot afford to
pay enough to cover the cost of treatment.
Note:
The charge for an individual acupuncture treatment in
Berea, $85, is similar to the cost elsewhere in Kentucky and less than
the usual charge in other parts of the United States. In Kentucky, as
in most other states, health insurance policies are limited in
reimbursement for acupuncture and neither Medicare nor Medicaid
provides coverage for acupuncture. Community acupuncture sessions are
offered to make acupuncture more affordable.
If you have health insurance,
please contact your insurance company before your first visit to find
out under what circumstances acupuncture may be covered under your
policy. Remember that acupuncture is considered an eligible expense for most flexible spending accounts and medical savings plans.
Whatever your insurance
status, payment is required at the time of each acupuncture visit. You
may use the receipts that are available for individual and community
treatments to seek reimbursement or to doucment your expenses.
